The body really does keep the score. Experiences that the person can’t fully process and integrate when they occur get lodged in the body where they remain stuck until the time we have the resources to address them. These patterns can be from physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual situations and they create an energetic blockage in the body that must be worked around. as our bodies to their best to function in every day life.
Somatic bodywork uses the techniques of craniosacral therapy to find these dysfunctional patterns in the body. It’s a bit like tracing the ripples on the surface of the water in the pond back to the location where the pebble was dropped.
The body directs us to the location that it would like us to support. While supporting the body at this location, it is not uncommon for memories, images, color, sound, or feelings to arise as the body is offered support to address the old pattern. Clients can engage in therapeutic imagery and dialogue in the session as their inner wisdom leads the way in revealing the insights needed to lift the pattern.
